Speeding Up Publishing Times?

Dec 17, 2015

Hello,

I know that there was a MASSIVE improvement in publishing time from Studio 09 to Studio 13 but I have a questions about speeding that up even further.

I am using a laptop with a Intel Core i5-4210U 1.7 Ghz processor and 8GB or Ram.  It's a new Toshiba Satellite.

If I buy another computer with a high processing speed, will that speed up the publishing?  What can I do to speed things up (hardware or otherwise)?

The reason I ask is because we have updated all of our courses and some contain 70+ SCORM packages.

I need more horsepower to speed this process up!!!!

Thanks for the insight!

Dave

Hi, Dave -- Thanks for reaching out with your question! Just so you have it readily available, here is our System Requirements info sheet for Studio '13. You may also want to check out this thread on a similar topic and give some of the suggestions offered a shot. Please let us know if that helps or if you still need additional assistance! :)

Hi, Dave -- Thanks for checking out the info I provided, and unfortunately, I cannot say for sure or guarantee that buying a new machine will make the difference you are looking for with respect to processing time.

There are many factors that influence how long a course takes to publish including the overall size and number of media assets, etc. that are being used, so with those things in mind, there isn't a specific way I can suggest to change the publishing speed or processing behavior. It's always a good practice to be sure to close down down other open programs and ensure you're publishing within these guidelines

Perhaps others in the community can share tips or tricks they have discovered to speed things up?  :)

Hi Dave, I just asked the exact same question -- I should have looked at your post first.  We all know what the "specs" are, I at least am looking for opinions and anecdotal evident that the extra money would be worth it.  I have 32 Gb of Ram, 2 Tb SSD and ~2.7 Ghz I7 processor and it's pretty arduous publishing my content five to 20 minutes depending upon the course, many of my courses have as much as 100 slides in them with video or audio, so it's a hefty churn to get it published, I"m guessing.

Thanks for your post. Jim
If I learn anything I'll post here too..
