Stacking order of objects on slide changes when publishing in Articulate Presenter

Mar 12, 2019

We had a few modules recently that had a weird, recurring and random issue. As an example, a slide includes a graphic of a woman with a box/text caption in  front of her. When published, the box moved behind her. There were many instances of this issue in the multi-module course.

To add to the frustration, we would find a workaround for one such issue, and when we published the next time the same issue would occur on a different slide. Unfortunately I didn't keep any of the "defective" modules that exhibited the problem so I can't provide a sample.

I assume we just had a glitchy master but the client asked me to see if others had experience this and found a workaround.

A separate but equally odd glitch was that, when animating using a Wipe with bulleted text, the text would wipe on and then the bullet would appear.

Oh these pesky computers. They're so naughty and so complex.

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Hi there, Tim. Let me try to help with both of these issues:

Stacking Order:

  • Did this behavior happen in Chrome and/or Safari? Or did you notice it in other browsers, too?
  • Was your player set to fill the browser window? Were you using a large browser window?

Bullet Animation:

We noticed this issue too, and we're looking into it. I'll tag your discussion to be updated with any changes. In the meantime, the workaround we've found is to use a different animation.

Thanks for the additional information, Tim.

I'm curious what version of Storyline 360 you are currently on.

We had a recent fix in Update 25 that addressed some issues in Chrome with layering, which sounds similar to what you are experiencing.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
