Studio 09 - ideal hardware configuration
Apr 08, 2013
I have been using Studio 09 with my current laptop. That PC exceeds the minimum specs required to run the app. However, my publication time takes longer than I would like (40 -75 minutes for a medium length course) and during that time my laptop is unable to do much, if anything else.
I have a chance to get a new laptop with better specs. What should I tell IT I'd like to have? I would like to be able to continue doing other work when I publish my course or preview several slides.
IT teels me that my starting point will be a Windows 7 machine with 64 bit OS, 4GB of RAM, an i5 processor, and a NVIDIA NVS 5400M / Intel HD graphics 4000 - 1GB graphics processor. Would asking for an upgrade to these specs such as an i7 processor reduce my publication time or or allow it to multitask better?

Welcome to the community, Brian!
I'm sure you'll get some great feedback here, but if I had a choice, I'd ask for more RAM (and that i7 wouldn't hurt either ). That should allow you to run multiple processes without experiencing significant drag.
Thanks Peter.
How much more RAM would you suggest? Would 8GB be sufficient?
Hi Brian,
8GB should be sufficient for publishing Presenter courses. I actually use Presenter on a virtual machine with only 4GB allotted, and I've never experienced a painfully long publish.
