Sync video with slides

Nov 05, 2019

Hi,

I have one video which covers all the slides. Is there is any way to place it once for all slides?

Moreover, I want the video will cover the top-right side of the screen, and the slide will cover the rest of the screen (attachment has been added).

Alas, there is no way to spread one video file over multiple slides. You could, however, chop up the long video file into multiple smaller files to show with each slide. For easy alignment, you could insert the video, adjust its size and placement, and then duplicate that slide so you have a copy for each "slide" of content you want to include. Then go to each slide and trim the video so it only includes the designated segment. (Alternately, trim the video into separate files in other software, and insert each file where appropriate.)

There's also another way you can achieve the desired end result.

  • Put the full video on the base layer of a slide.
  • Put the content from each "slide" on a layer instead.
  • Use triggers to control when each layer appears, so they show at the appropriate time during the video. Some option for doing this:
    • For each layer: create a "Show Layer __ when the timeline reaches ___" trigger for each layer. These triggers could all be on the base layer.
    • For the first layer, create a "Show Layer [1] when the timeline starts" trigger. Put that trigger on the base layer. Then, on the first layer, adjust its timeline to the appropriate amount of time. Add a "Show Layer [2] when the timeline ends" trigger. For each subsequent layer, adjust the timeline and add the trigger to show the next layer when its timeline ends.

Be aware that timelines continue to run even if the network has trouble playing the video due to bandwidth issues. So it's possible that the timing could be off if the network can't handle the traffic. That's why dividing the video into multiple, smaller files is probably the best way to go.
