Brian,  I downloaded it again today to see if it still behaved the same and it did.  Here's the link to the original article:

Karen,

I tested the file you have refered to just to make sure there wasn't something wrong with this file. This file works fine for me in PPT 2010 32 bit.

Note: Presenter is NOT compatible with PowerPoint 2010 64 bit (http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/kb/?p=2552)

Are you extracting the zip file (right-click --> Extract All) prior to opening the .pptx? Double-clicking the .pptx to open from inside the zipped download will not work.
