Text breaks away from shape once published or previewed

Dec 22, 2012

Hi all

It is not the end of the world yet but some weird stuff happened to me this week with this course I doctored

I have a simple screen with an animation. The first animated group comprises a picture and a shape with text inside. When I synchronised the animations, everything seems fine, like this:

But once I preview or publish here is what I see:

!!!! I have tried to redo the shape and the group and the animation several times but to no avail. Mystery! The text IS inside the shape, it is not a text caption, so how can it be broken away like that? A Mayan trick?

I want to stay zen for Xmas but this one is just playing with my nerves...

Hi Helene -

There is a known issue where the text inside a shape is offset after publishing. This issue is usually related to having a line border applied to the text itself and a Glow effect applied to the associated shape. It doesn't look like you're using a glow, but the issue still sounds related.

A temporary workaround would be to right-click the shape and select 'Save as Picture...' , then inserted this saved picture in place of the original text and shape.

If you go that route, make sure to save your original shape and text either as a hidden object or in another file so you retain the original source version. Here's a quick Screenr that shows you one possible workflow:
