Text goes offscreen
Feb 07, 2013
I just put together my first Presenter video. When I play it, the text runs off the slide. I used this template: http://www.articulate.com/rapid-elearning/check-out-this-free-powerpoint-template-tutorial/ The text on some slides runs out of both areas--the left and right. Any suggestions? It looks fine in PowerPoint, the problem is only when I publish it. It's as though the slides are too big to fit in the player.

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Pratima!
That does sound pretty strange. Does it happen when previewing the project, or only after publishing? Has this happened with any other presentations, or just this template? If you've only been able to work on this presentation, are you able to recreate this in a new presentation?
If this happens in other presentations, can you share some screenshots of how the text appears after the presentation's been published?
Thank you
It happens while previewing and after publishing. I've only seen it with this presentation, though I've only done one other one so far.
I took a couple of screenshots and notice that the text and placement of images is off. It seems like the slide got shrunk down so everything doesn't fit, or like the image size and alignment of items went awry. Here are a couple of examples.
Hi Pratima,
Great, thank you very much for the information and the screenshots! We recently discovered an issue with a Microsoft update that caused some very similar issues. Can you take a look at this article, please, and let me know if this resolves the issue?
Thanks!
Well, I searched for that update and don't have it. I can try switching fonts though. What's the easiest way to do that? Can I just edit the slide master or do I have to change every slide?
Hi Pratima,
First, I would suggest only making the change to one slide. I wouldn't want to you go through each slide, change the font, and then find out that doesn't fix it.
Can you try modifying a single slide's font and let me know if there's a change?
Thanks!
Ah, that seems to have worked. I switched the two slides I posted from Bevan to Calibri and upon preview, the text all fits and everything remains properly aligned. I guess I'll have to switch the rest over! Is it better to stick to TrueType fonts?
Awesome! Thanks for the update.
Yes, TrueType fonts are generally a little more stable. I should've asked which font you were using earlier, Sorry about that!
I hope you have a great weekend, Pratima! Good luck on the presentation :)
Christine
Thanks for your help! I was using the font built into the template--Bevan. I'll keep this in mind for future presentations.
