Text keeps disappearing

Dec 07, 2015

I have an e-learning made in Studio '09 with media (Captivate), images, hyperlinks, quizes, engage-interactions and a lot of text. I have converted the e-learning to Studio '13 and adjusted some sheets. I have removed the hyperlinks, because I noticed they can cause trouble in a published e-learning. When I am publishing the content to LMS some text on some sheets disappear. I cannot find out what's the problem. I thought the problem was an image on the page, but I am also experiencing this problem with just text-sheets. I have tried adding a new sheet and making the sheet exactly the same, but the problem keeps coming up. Not just with this e-learning, but also with others.

We use Office Professional Plus 2013 and Windows 8.1

Please, can somebody help me?

Hi Leja!

You may find that hyperlinks that jump from one slide to another in the same presentation no longer work after upgrading from Articulate Presenter '09 to Articulate Presenter '13. See this article for more information.

Do you experience the same result if you test the content in SCORM Cloud? This would help us know if the issue lies with the course or within your LMS. If you are able to replicate, would you be able to share your Articulate Package so that we could take a look? If you cannot share publicly in the forums, please share here privately.

Hi, Leja -- Thanks for reaching out with your question! Have you had an opportunity to test your course in the SCORM Cloud also to see if you find the same behavior there? It's always good to test in that environment also, as we will typically recommend that you reach out to your LMS provider directly for additional assistance.

I also wanted to ask if you could try importing the file into a new file to see if that helps you find improvement. Please let us know if issues persist! :)

Hi Leslie (and Christie),

Thanks for your response. I have already re-linked that kind of hyperlinks. All the other hyperlinks I have removed. Strange enough some hyperlinks were still active, but others, sometimes on the same sheet and to the same platform, were gone.

Last week I had case #00703015 with Articulate. That problem was because of some media that didn't work. That one I solved myself at last, but the package I had sent was placed in the SCORM Cloud and in Moodle. Both published files did have disappearing text in a sheet, while I even didn't had that problem in our Moodle at that time with that sheet in that e-learning. When I made a remark about that I got the answer: "With regards to the second issue you are experiencing, I don’t believe that this is related to the Web Objects not appearing on your LMS as I can also reproduce the issue when I preview within Articulate Presenter '13 and when viewing the course I published in both SCORM Cloud and our Moodle server. I believe that the issue is more on a corrupt slide as I was able to resolve the issue by deleting and recreating the text from scratch."

This week I am working on another e-learning, same conditions as stated in my text above, and I am experiencing the same problem. In this e-learning I have finally solved it by recreating the text from scratch with a slide form a section in the e-learning without problems and without adding any images. But, when I resize the textframe to half the slide, the text disappeares again.

I now have to do two other e-learnings, also with the same conditions as stated above. And I really don't want to experience this again, because it takes a lot of time repairing. And I cannot believe that every single e-learning I have, has corrupted slides. The problem really seems to be in Articulate (or PPT). If I use the present-function in PPT the text is there, but as soon as I publish, the text is gone. Last week I also tried to publish to web and it's the same problem.

As soon as I experience the same problem with the new e-learning I will upload the Articulate Package privately.

Hi Christie,

I have replied to Leslie (see above). I haven't tried to import the file into a new file. But your article is for Storyline and I don't have Storyline. I have Studio '13. And do I need to use the template I need? Because the file is made by our International office and I don't have the right template to use.

Thanks Leslie,

I have found a workaround for the time being. The sheets that have disappearing text have textboxes that are resized to half the sheet. If I make them longer again and shorten the text with enters, the text will not disappear anymore. So, for this file it is solved, but it is a recurring problem, so I really want to know what the issue is. Besides, it is strange that this is not a problem for all of the sheets. I am now going the start with the last e-learning and I think it will also have the same problems. Love to hear your analyses.
