The colour red

Feb 09, 2012

We have experienced a recurring problem across courses developed in Presenter, Engage and Quizmaker.

When the colour red is used in content images, it can appear distorted. The effect is similar to a jpeg image that has been compressed too much, where the image breaks up around the edges. We've tried getting around this by using different hues of red and by selecting web safe colours in Fireworks, but it doesn't make a difference.

The images do contain other colours too, but it is only the red that is is affected in this way. Any thoughts?

Hey Simon, welcome to Heroes!

Mind sending us your files so we can have a closer look? One of our support engineers will be happy to work with you to pinpoint and troubleshoot the issue. If you'd like to do that, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!

Hi Peter,

I work with Brett Radlicki. We published the course yesterday with the Lossless option and see no difference with a graphic that we are having issues with. The graphic is red and sits on a red background. It appears pixilated and the red color bleeds outside of the graphic. Can you please let me know if you can provide additional suggestions/help? Thank you!

Thank you Peter.

Thank you Peter.

The entire PowerPoint document is quite large, so I have attached 3 slides. If you watch the animation on the first slide, the 3rd action step shrinks and moves to the corner. The small icon sits in the lower right-hand corner for the rest of the course.

The icon is where we are seeing the issues with pixilation and bleeding of the red color from the graphic.

Please let me know if you need any other files or information.

Thank you!

Hi Teresa!

Thanks for the files In preview, I definitely noticed the pixelation, but after changing the Publish Options to lossless, and then publishing the three sample slides, it looks pretty good to my eyes. But then again, my eyes aren't great

Can you take a look at my published example and let me know if that's the same image quality you're getting on your end, and we can go from there. Thanks!
