Threshold Changing After Publish

May 09, 2013

I'm having a few of my courses change their threshold for completion after they're published. It's happened twice with separate courses. I set the completion to all slides viewed (for one course it was only 4 slides, for another it was something like 20). After publishing, I opened my presentation.xml file and the threshold was set to 46 - but neither course has 46 slides to begin with. How is this possible? Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks,

Kristin

Hi Kristin,

That is strange. So, it's not only displaying a random, higher number of slides, but it's showing the same in the XML file for more than one project?

You working with files and publishing your course to your local hard drive?

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you're working locally, can you try creating a new, blank presentation? Please try setting the slide count for tracking and try publishing to a different location (possibly the desktop). Does the same thing happen?

Thanks!
