Track Views without LMS
Sep 16, 2011
I used Articulate Presenter to publish some longer videos on our website. These are truly just videos - not trainings. There are no quizzes or engage elements. Is there a way to track number of views online, with Google Analytics or some other free software?
I published in Presenter '09, web-format. Here is the video: http://www.redwoodsgroup.com/multimedia/welcometosouth/player.html
Thanks for any help.

Hi Stephen,
Yes, you can add Google Analytics to the player.html file. Just follow the instructions from Google and you'll be good to go. Keep in mind that you'll only have limited data on the player.html file and you won't know who actually viewed the content...you'll only know how many people accessed it, from what city and state they accessed it, and any other relevant information that GA provides.
Thanks Brian!
Brian,
The player.html page is just a blank document. Adding the GA code now brings up the code as text, instead of rendering as HTML. Any suggestions?
Hi Stephen,
What program did you use to add the script? You should be using a basic text editor instead of a rich GUI editor.
You're right. I was using the wrong type of editor. When I opened the .html file in Text Edit (text editor on a Mac) it came up as a blank page with no HTML. Then I opened it in Text Wrangler (a basic text editor) I was able to see the HTML code. I got it fixed now.
Thanks!
Stephen
