Transferring to new PC and Windows 7 - any issues?

Jun 20, 2011

My company will be transferring my files onto a new PC that will be using Windows 7 instead of XP.  Has anyone had any issues with transferring of Articlute files or applications (I'm on Studio '09)?  Any issues working in Windows 7 with Articulate?  Feel free to pass on any concerns or any tips.  Thanks!

Hi Susan and welcome to Heroes! There should be no issues with moving from Windows XP to Windows 7. I would recommend you create a backup of each of your presentations prior to doing this:

You might also want to consider using the zip files created using the above method versus copying folders from one computer to another. This will ensure that your projects maintain their proper directory structure. You would just need to right click each zip file for each presentation and select the Extract option.

So what I would do is this.

1. After transferring Studio to your new computer. Instructions for this can be found here: http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter09/kb/?p=44 You will have a new folder in your My Documents folder called My Articulate Projects.

2. Copy all of the zip files to that folder.

3. Unzip them.

4. Once you have a folder for each project in your My Articulate Projects folder I would move the zip files to a new folder. So create a folder like My Documents\My Articulate Project Backups and store your backups there.

Once you have things set up, you will be able to manage your projects pretty easily.
