I had created a skin for Articulate 09 course and I am trying to import it to Articulate 13. However, it is not letting me do so. It says "The player you selected is not supported." I am sure it is a .xml file. Is this the only format of skin or some other format?

That is correct. With the player being totally redesigned in Studio '13, the player templates from earlier versions will not work.
