Using the same video multiple times in a presentation

May 03, 2012

I am creating some role-based training for 3 different job roles, so essenmtially there are 3 courses in 1 presentation. There are 5 video demonstrations in the training. I know how to link to a video, but is there a way to return to the slide after the one you linked from when the video is completed?

I am trying to keep the published file size down by linking to the same video file from multiple slides, but depending on where you link from, it should return to the slide after the link (which would be differnet for each role).

Not in Articulate Studio.  You could do it in the new Articulate Storyline software using variables to set where it came from and where to go next based on that variable.

In Studio, to keep your file size down, you could try viewing the video as a web object instead of embedding the flash video.  Just host the video online, and view the web object from each slide you want.  You could also open the web object in a new browser window, so it could stay open while they navigate slides.

Would the same be possible for an audio file?  Trying to do a quiz in Storyline where music is sort of setting the mood.  Had two different clips in various points in quiz (like on questions, on correct feedback layer, and on incorrect feedback layer) for each question.  Noticed the published course has a bunch of copies of the mp3 files each with a different name.  Didn't seem like right way to keep the file size down if using same assets multiple times in the same output.
