Very slow publishing and audio editing

Nov 21, 2013

Hi,

I'm working with Articulate 2013, Office 2013 - it took about 5 minutes for the audio editor to open and 15 minutes to publish a small (13 slide/2quiz) presentation.  Is this normal?

Hi Sonya,

That sounds like longer than normal times for opening the audio editor and publishing - although depending on what's on each of your slides (i.e. a lot of videos, images, audio, etc.) that will impact the publishing time. Can you confirm that you're system requirements for authoring content match up with what is included here?  If you're still having difficulty, I'd also try to close out other programs when going to publish your Presenter files, just to check that there isn't anything else running in the background and taking up memory.

My coworker is having the same problems.  His computer's hardware far exceeds the specifications in your link.  He is also running current the current Office suite.  His computer is the same make and model as mine and his system takes about 3 times longer to publish the same training content.

What are the next troubleshooting steps?

Thanks!

Hi Thomas,

This thread is a bit older - but if you're having difficulty saving. We'd like to know a bit more about what's happening?

Are you using SL1 or SL2? What update are you using? Are you saving and publishing to a local drive as described here? Is this happening on all files? Is it a recent development? If so you may want to go through the repair steps detailed here.

Hi

I am a new user. Trialling the software to see if it will work for me and my
clients. Using SL2 installed about a month ago. Publishing to a local drive
I have the latest update of SL2, as far as I know . I have only started a
few projects, to train myself and assess the software. None f them are very
big, yet it seems to take an age to publish.

However, this is another issue which I discovered today, is that your
company does not keep users up to date with bug fixes only through
knowledgebase notices. So I might not have the latest update.

It would be really really useful to be able to check for updates without
having to trawl through knowledgebase. Particularly as a Platinum customer.

Hi Thomas,

Welcome to the community! Regarding the updates, unless you have unchecked the box in the Storyline options, Storyline automatically checks for updates when you launch the program (unless you're not connected to the internet).

To access these options, simply go to File > Storyline Options:

If you're unsure whether or not you have the latest update, go to the Help tab and click on Check for updates to manually check if any new updates have come out. You can also click on About Articulate Storyline to view which version of Storyline you are currently running (as of today the most recent update is #3).

I hope that helps!
