Very weird sync issue
Mar 30, 2012
Hi Everyone, I tried to search for this specific issue and I probably wasn't hitting the right key words because I could not find my specific; and very strange issue.
I am using Powerpoint 2010, and the current build of Articulate 09, in my presentations when I start a slide with an animation that does not require a moust click (so "Start with previous"), the sync animation function doesn't display the correct count of animations on the slide. So where a slide only has 3 animations it will display 4 as the count, and the final animation will advance the slide, and the end result is that the presentation is not sync'd properly.
I have double checked and I have no transition animation and it works just fine when I don't start off a slide with an auto-advancing animation, so I'm just hoping that someone has has this problem and (more importantly) has a solution to this quirky one.
Thanks all!

Oh just to update my issue. When I go in to the slide and change the animation to only proceed "on click", when I try to sync the animations, the sync module will just advance the animation anyway! Really have no idea how to work around this, so any help would be very much appreciated.
Hey Allen, welcome to Heroes!
Would you like to send us your files so we can take a closer look? If so, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:
Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help
Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:
Articulate Support - Upload Your Files for Review
Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!
Hi Peter, thanks for replying, unfortunately I can't send the files due to our internal security settings. So get this, this problem happens on mine and my colleague's laptop, however another member of our team has zero problem with it.
Both myself and my colleague have uninstalled and reinstalled articulate and the problem persists...no idea what's going on here. Any thoughts?
Hi Alan,
I experience the same issue intemittently. It seems to happen if Im clicking too fast on the 'synch' button - I found that if I wait an extra second before clicking the 'start synch' button for the first time then it's generally OK.
I also have to be sure to watch the remaining animations counter closely - if I click 'synch' before it's counted down to the next animation then it gets all confused with the counting how many are left, and I can get taken to the next screen too, then I have to start again on that slide.
It's all about timing.
Peter if there is a fix I'd love to hear it too!
Thanks for the suggestion Sarah, I appreciate it!
I gave it a shot and waited and unfortunately it didn't help. Hopefully it's just a problem with this one file and future files won't have this problem. I'll just borrow my co-workers computer for now where it's working fine.
Any other suggestion are most welcome!
Hi Alan,
No problem regarding the internal security not allowing you to upload your files. If you'd like to simply submit a case to our support staff, pointing them to this thread, you're welcome to do so. Otherwise, for general animation issues, a good place to start would be to refer to this blog entry.
And while Presenter supports the vast majority of PowerPoint animations, it does not support them all. For a list of supported animations, please see this article.
And you can refer to our online documentation here and here regarding syncing your animation timings with your audio.
Hope that's helpful!
