Videos in Articulate

Feb 14, 2012

It seems that I always have problems inserting videos into my Articulate course. I have about a dozen screen capture modules that have been developed using Captivate. I published the files to MP4 file. I followed the instructions to insert a flash movie. Now when I preview the course, the video disappears (there is no longer a placeholder in the slide) or when I publish to HTML the video does not play.

What am i missing?

Carrie, I may be mistaken as I have never tried to use Captivate or MP4 files, but I would suspect your file type is the issue. It is my understanding that Articulate needs the files to be in either .flv or .swf structure. If you cannot export to either of those structures you can try and use the Articulate Video encoder to conver the MP4 file to a .flv. If I am incorrect on this, I am sure someone from the community will set me straight.

Hi Carrie!

You can add .SWF, .FLV or .MP4 movies to your presentation. Here's how:

If you can confirm that you've followed the above process but are still having issues, please feel free to create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server so that our support engineers can take a closer look. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09, which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so I can follow up with you personally in the forums. And feel free to come back and leave your case number here so I can keep a close eye on it. Thanks!
