web object covered the glossary and attachment menu problem

Mar 21, 2012

I added a web object to my articulate course, however the web object covered all glossary page and attachement menu. Below is some screen shots that can help you understand more about my project.

1. The orange area is the weboject.

2. The glossary page move upwards after clicking the glossary button "abc", however it is covered by the webobject.

3. I have tried to add webOjectLockFix2.0.swf into the webobject page, but no any improvment for solving the covering problem of the glossary.

Could anyone give me a solution??

Thank you very much.

Hi,

i too face this problem. i am using a custom Template.i gave a link of a video as webObject.   After loading the webobject video when we click Attachment or Exit ,the video overlaps the options of attachemnt and Exit.

webObjectLockFix doesnt help in this overlapping. it just make the video to disappear and reload again when i close the attachement.

i want the user to click the attachement without affecting the webobject video and viceversa.

is there a solution for this? Please help..

Hi,

I did have this problem with Articulate '09 and when I inserted the webObjectLockFix v2, it worked fine; the attachment/exit drop down appeared in front of the webobject.

However, I have Articulate '13 now and the webObjectLockFix doesn't work anymore.  The webobject layer is now back to covering the menu dropdowns.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this layering in Articulate 13?

and Does anyone know if this is still happening in Articulate 360?

Thanks,

Nancy

Hi Nancy,

When you're hovering over a web object or interacting with its content, the web object will move to the top layer of the slide. When your mouse cursor is no longer positioned over it, the web object will return to its original placement.

As a result, any other items on the slide that you've layered on top of the web object will be temporarily hidden or obscured while you're interacting with the web object. They return to focus when your mouse cursor is no longer over the web object. This is still the case within Studio '13. The change you mentioned above was not something that we could offer support for, so I'd have to defer to the community for that.

For Studio 360, you'll see a bit of a different behavior based on the publish option you choose and how you're viewing the content.

HTML5: Objects layered on top of website videos and web objects will always remain in front of videos/web objects in HTML5 output.

Flash: Due to a limitation in the Flash Player, website videos and web objects will temporarily move to the front of the slide when learners hover over or interact with them. When learners are no longer hovering over website videos or web objects, they'll return to their original positions behind other objects on the slide.
