HI All, Just trying to figure out when/why I would ever need to use player.html
What I have found is if I launch player.html the course will open up and run but the exit and attachement btn's/links do not work. They drop down and thats it. So what is this file for?
The player.html file is what launches your course. If your Exit and Attachments buttons aren't working it could be because you've published your course for Web but are launching the course locally (from your hard drive). Here are a couple knowledgebase articles that should help:
I think this is a dumb question, but I have to ask it anyway.
I'd always assumed that index_lms.html and player.html were simply two different methods of launching the course - the former from within the LMS, and the latter from a web server outside the LMS. However, when I deleted a "player.html" file from the server today, the course refused to launch through the LMS, so now I'm thinking maybe both of them are essential for an LMS deployment. Could you please either confirm this, or let me know as gently as possible that I'm losing the plot?
That's okay, I just wanted confirmation that I needed to keep both files. I had thought I might be able to dispense with the "player.html" files, but I guess I'll just leave well enough alone!
Sorry I know this is years later in this thread! I noticed when using the player.html link in a browser, the videos look a bit blurred. However, if I link to the .html link of a video instead it looks fine and crisp. Any ideas?
Can you tell me what version of Presenter you're using? Also, how are you planning on sharing your content with your users--a web server or a learning management system?
You shouldn't need to link to the player.html file. Instead, follow these guidelines for publishing and sharing your presentation:

Hi Julie!
Unfortunately, due to the code behind the files, you will not be able to move or remove the player.html file and expect the course to work properly.
