Where do you place native files that are linked in Articulate 13?

Mar 05, 2015

I have a published module for LMS that has a link to a PDF file on one of the pages. Where do I need to put the native PDF file so that when it is uploaded to the LMS server, the file can be accessed by the learner?

Hi Patt,

The PDF document should be initially linked from your local drive within your Presenter file, and then it'll be included within your published output and should be accessible from the LMS.

If you haven't been able to access it from your LMS, have you checked into any browser or security restrictions that may prevent you from opening the file? You may also want to look at testing it at SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing SCORM content.

No I did not include it as a resource file. I am learning that that is the best way to do it – but the Module has already been approved by all our Regulatory/Legal departments and I cannot change it…is there someplace the LMS Administrator can put the native PDF where Articulate will find it? In anticipation of this problem, I inserted the native file in all the folders created when the file was published…but apparently, that is not enough.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for your effort,

Patty

I moved the file to my local hard drive and republished the module again. When I reviewed the module, I received the error below (I was using Google Chrome, however, our company uses IE9 universally):

Please advise if you can assist in troubleshooting this problem further,

Thank you,

Patty

Hi Patt,

When you reply via email any attachments are not included here in the forums so I couldn't see the image you shared and I'm not certain the image you shared.

You'd need to relink the file prior to republishing, and then you'll want to upload in your LMS or SCORM Cloud for testing purposes to fully test this out.
