Which is better: MP4 vs SWF

So, I'd heard on these forums a few times that some of my customers might encounter problems playing mp4 files if their systems didn't have the right codec or player or something.
I know Articulate supports mp4, and Screenr creates mp4 files to anyone who wants one...let me pose this question. Should I anticipate any problems if I offer mp4 files to my customers both 1) standalone and 2) embedded in an Articulate course?

Not sure about the codec thing, but MP4 look better than our .SWF videos.
Thanks Chris. I just heard that there were some issues with codecs from time to time and just trying to learn more about what those were. Sounds like they're isolated and not the norm, but I'd like to take whatever actions are necessary to ensure my learners can view the videos.
To play an MP4 file is located in an AP project, the end-user will need Flash Player Update 3: Flash Player:9:Update:H.264 - Adobe Labs
Here's a good Knowledge Base covering basic issues with video codecs:

Does anyone know if there are circumstances where an mp4 or flv file embedded as a flash object within Presenter would, open publish and subsequent launch, play back those files in an external application like movie maker instead of the same browser window that the module itself is running in?
Hi Stephanie,
When you say "embedded as a Flash object", do you mean that it was added as a web object? Or do you mean that it was added to the Articulate presentation using the Insert Flash Movie option?
