The ppta file only contains the information specific to articulate presenter it is not a replacement for the PPT file and cannot be opened on its own, now is probably the time to resort to a back up if you have one.
Looks like Phil was able to assist you here, but I just wanted to pop in and let you know that replying via e-mail also adds your e-mail signature to the thread. You are welcome to pop in here and edit that if needed.
Without the PPT file you cannot do much it is very much an accessory file, you can unzip and remove your audio and your quiz maker and engage files will be intact but you may need to rebuild the PPT file if you have no backup

thank you. I was unable to locate the powerpoint file so I guess I am stuck with the PPTA file
