You must complete quiz in order to continue.

May 08, 2013

I have a QM survey in an eLearning course that I'm using to collect responses from the users.  The QM file is a one question survey that is not required for completion.  The users are able to click the submit button without providing an answer (I didn't want to lock them into it).

However, if the user clicks the next button, they get a pop up box with the message in the subject line of this post.

I have modified all of the text labels and I even opened all of the java script (.js) and .xml files to see if I could manually manipulate the verbiage.

I'm o.k. with the box popping up, but I don't like having the word 'quiz' display because it's not a quiz.  Can this be modified?

@ Josh - The question is entered as a survey question and not as a graded question.  I double checked the options and settings on the question itself, and there are no scoring options.

@ Dwayne - That was my first thought too, but our LMS requires that the user click the Submit button to trigger the completion status.  I tested it and if they answer the question and click the next button it moves them on.  Then if they close the window, our LMS says that it's "incomplete."  They don't have to type a response to the question, but they MUST click the Submit button.

99.99999% of the time our folks will follow the on-screen instructions and click Submit (LIKE IT'S SCREAMING FOR THEM TO DO IN THE INSTRUCTIONS), but that .0000001% is wreeking havoc on my nerves this week.

I even went in and created a new player template from scratch and removed ALL instances of the word "quiz" from ALL text labels.  Looks like I might just be stuck with it.

Thanks for givin' it a go though.

You could create another slide in the course that contains a quizmaker as a graded quiz. This would just be a blank slide that says thanks, congrats, good job, what ever you want the last text they see to be. This quiz would then be used to complete the course in the course SCORM tracking data. So your survey slide would just have a next button which would allow them to bypass that if they don't want to answer the question.

Set the passing percentage to 0% and disable the Pass/Fail results in the added final slide.

We've used this technique a number of times for courses that have odd branching or have multiple quizzes that can be taken in any order. Using this model, you can complete the course anywhere at anytime bypassing the number of slides needed option.
