Animated characters preventing publishing

Apr 28, 2014

I feel like this is the only kind of issue that happens on a Monday.

I'm building a quiz with a freeform question and using animated characters. If I choose a pose for a character seated at the desk (any of them) the quiz won't publish. It publishes fine if I choose any character, any expression, and any pose, as long as the desk is not involved (even the wheelchair pose works).

I've even tried starting the quiz from scratch. Everything publishes fine at each step along the way, and as soon as the desk is involved, I get the message that Quizmaker has stopped running.

Hi Greg,

Sorry to hear about the trouble! Sounds like they don't want to be stuck behind a desk today.

Please make sure that you're working with local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If that doesn't fix the problem, please try repairing Studio '13:

Articulate Support - How to Repair Articulate Studio '13

If you're still experiencing these issues, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in Articulate Studio

If you still have trouble after following all of those steps, please share a .QUIZ file there that contains the character and the desk. Hopefully you'll be able to save the file without crashing. If not, just let me know and we'll see if we can get some additional information on recreating the problem.

Thank you!
