Articulate 9 | Score Tracking

Jun 09, 2011

Hi,

We have received the following functionality requirement for Assessment in a new e-Learning we are developing in Articulate 9.

Pre-Test Logic:

If learners score 100% on the Pre-Test, they may test out of the course as they already know the content. However, learners will have the option to continue with the course from Lesson 1, if they choose to do so.

If learners do not score 100% on the Pre-Test, they must take the entire course starting at  Lesson 1. Questions will  be randomized, not the answer options.  (MCQ)

Post-Test Logic:

In the full course, the Pre-Test and Final Assessment will both have 10 questions each. However there will be a bank of questions (15-20 questions) to pull from.

Learners get one chance one each question.  Score to be displayed at end.

If user does not get 100%, learners will then need to be taken back to the beginning of Lesson 1.

Query:

Can we track both Pre-Test and Post-Test scores in a single Articulate e-Learning course? Kindly help.

Thanks and Regards,

Abhijit P.Gangawane

Hi

You can only track one quiz or slide completion in articulate,

I would build two articulate courses, 1 would be your pretest, the second would be your course with the post test at the end, you could then set the branching if they fail the post test

Phil

Thanks for the reply.

Please help me for the following scenario:

When learners fail pre-test then they must visit the course and post-test score must get tracked.

If learners pass the pre-test and exit from the course or navigated to lesson one and without completing post-test exits from the course then pre-test score must be tracked.

Kindly help whether this can possible in Articulate 9.

Hi Abhijit,

What you are looking to do could be possible if you made the pre-test the same test as the post test and used pooling and randomization so the user didn't take the same exact test twice.

So for example, you could branch someone to the test at the very beginning of the presentation. If they fail you could send them back to the original slide so they could go through the presentation and then take the quiz again. If you randomize the questions from a larger pool of questions, they would be taking a slightly different version of the same quiz.

If they pass, you could simply have the finish action of the quiz close the browser window or go to the next slide in the presentation.

Thanks for the suggestion.

We will work on this and get back to you if we find any roadblock.

Thanks again for your help and support.

Hi,

Wehave received the following functionality requirement for Assessment in a newe-Learning we are developing in Articulate 9.

Isthe following programmatically possible in a single Articulate e-Learningcourse where both Pre-Test and Post-Test present ?

Ifso please let us know and how do we implement this?

Ifnot please indicate so.

Requirement:

Learner takes the pre-test and scores 100%.

Pre-test score if 100% gets sent to the LMS.

Learner (who scored 100%) decides to take thecourse.

Hide or remove final assessment for those thatscored 100% from the course.

Those that failed pre-test, final assessmentis visible.

I don't know that you could hide the test from someone who scored 100% on it but not sure why you would need to? If a person scores 100% on a test, why would they want to take the test again? Provided you have resume enabled on quizzes, if they got to the quiz it would show as complete anyway with a button to retry the quiz but I don't think anyone would actually hit that button.

As we have developed a single Articulate e-Learning course where both Pre-Test and Post-Test are present.

If learner scores 100% in pre-test the learner have option to Exit the course or  learners can continue with the course from Lesson 1, if learner chooses to continue the course then client wants that post test must not be visible to learner.

Justin Wilcox

For the pre-test and post-test method that I outlined earlier, you would be using the same quiz for both. You can't have it be visible one moment and then not visible another. The only way I could see that being possible is if you built the same course twice within the same presentation and branched them to a version with no quiz if they got 100 and a version where you could take them back to the quiz at the end. Kind of a pain, but doable.
