Blank dialog box when pressing Advance button on player

Feb 24, 2012

Hello,

In my quiz, I have set the reponse so when a user presses Submit without selecting an answer the following appears:

However, when the user presses the forward / Advance button on the player itself (without pressing submit) and not having selected a response the result is a blank dialog box as below. How can I modify this?

Thank you,

Emma

Hi Emma, welcome to Heroes!

If you receive a blank pop-up message, dialog, button, or label during playback of a published quiz, it indicates that one or more text labels in your player template are blank. Go to Player Templates ->  Edit -> Text Labels

  • If the Custom text column for any label is blank, enter the text you would like to appear.
  • If all labels are blank, you can quickly repopulate them by using the Language drop-down list at the bottom of the window to select the appropriate language.

Let us know if that does it, and welcome again

Hi Peter,

Thank you for your reply. I have populated all of the Text Label fields, so I get the right message appearing when I click on 'Submit' within the quiz without selecting a response, however if I press advance on the player itself (bypassing the Submit button) a second dialog box appears different to the first and this is not populated.

Thanks again, and for the welcome.

Hi Emma!

Looks like the following solution worked for you:

This indicates one or several of your text labels on your presentation are blank. Go back to Articulate > Player Templates. See to it that the
player template for the presentation in question is the one selected on the dropdown. Next, click on "Text Labels" then inspect each cell, ensure each has a custom text. Quizmaker specific messages are numbers 28-35.

As a general fix, simply select "English" on the Language dropdown so it will re-populate the custom text. Save the player template then
republish presentation.
