Bugs when trying to change the template

Sep 01, 2011

Hello everybody,

Sometimes when trying to switch from one template to the other in the Player Template dialog box, I can't. Here is the message I get :

"Error - Could not locate Preview folder - C:\WINDOWS \temp\articulate\presenter\preview\data\"
Are there any reported bug on that issue ?
Thanks for helping me out,
Best regards,
Patricia

No need to upload any files, Wesley. You can simply submit a case, providing as much detail as possible about the issue, and our engineers will work with you to find a solution.

But just as good practice, if you are experiencing unexpected issues using Articulate software, here are some tips for managing your files which can help prevent issues.

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article:

The link you provided the first time requires a package to be uploaded, it won't let me submit a case.

Here is what I was going to say in the comments section.

When I open the player template options I get an error that reads "Error: Could not locate preview folder - C:\DOCUME~1\WSINCL~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\articulate\presenter\preview\data"

I have tried to reinstall Studio 09 and it is located on my C:\

Hi Nicole,

Really sorry for the frustration. It looks like Cleo responded to you on 2/21 with the following:

To backup your color scheme, use the following procedure:

1) Create any interaction type in Engage and apply the custom color scheme you wish to share.
2) Save the interaction. (There is no need to add any content to the interaction.)
Keep the saved .intr (Engage interaction) file. To restore, launch the interaction in Engage on your computer, it will automatically place the custom color scheme in the appropriate directory. This color scheme will now be available from the Colors drop-drown list in Engage for all other projects.

If you find that your Engage '09 application is producing random errors or is crashing, try the following to resolve the issue:

1) Right-click the Windows Start button and click Explore.
2) Type the following in the address bar and hit return: %appdata%\Articulate
3) Rename the Shared folder to Shared_old.
4) Run the software and confirm the issue was resolved.

The above procedure will force Engage ‘09 to re-create the Shared folder on launch, and will reset the application back to its default state.

If the above procedure does not correct this issue, it's possible your installation of the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is damaged, corrupt or missing. Following the directions below will repair your installation of the .NET Framework 2.0 and should correct this issue:

1) Install the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1: http://tinyurl.com/2waeet
2) Run Windows Update: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
3) Restart your computer.
4) Run the software and confirm the issue was resolved/

If that doesn't help resolve it, I'd recommend responding to Cleo directly. It sounds like perhaps his last email might've ended up in your spam or junk folder, so you may want to check there for it.

Hope that's helpful!
