Can a test be marked by the LMS

Feb 25, 2011

I recently evaluated a different SCORM authoring tool and found its behaviour within the LMS was slightly different from Quizmaker's.

It didnt have its own submit button - it used the one provided by the LMS, and on pressing the LMS's submit button, the test was marked and submitted to the lms without the user seeing the results.  Also, on returning to the test, the user was not able to take the test again (unlike quizmaker which always has the resume option).

I know that quizmaker has its own sumbit button, but its submit button does not result in a submit within the LMS - it merly marks the test.  The user then has to go on to press the LMS's submit button for that to occur and if the user sees they have got a poor score after pressing the submit button within quizmaker, they are free to take the test again to get a better score.

Is there any way I can Quizmaker to make use of the LMS submit button to mark and submit the test, and also remove the submit operation from within Quizmaker

Kind Regards,

Dave Dixson.

If you are submitting questions one at a time, Quizmaker does send the data after each question (when you hit submit). However, the status will remain incomplete until you finish the quiz which would mean hitting the Finish button or closing the browser window. If you want to see what is sent to an LMS, sign up for SCORM Cloud:

You can check out the logs that are created when you view the content to see the communication between the content and the LMS.

What LMS are you using?  I use Moodle and from what I can tell the score is submitted once they reach the "Pass Result" screen.  Users scores are transmitted to the Moodle gradebook without clicking the "Finish" or "Exit" buttons.  I'm guessing this is something where it may depend on the LMS you are using.

Sounds like the interaction between the LMS and quizmaker may be at play to some degree.  I am using the sharepoint SLK - interesting to hear that moodle submits the score as soon as they reach the pass result screen.  I take it that means that if they reach the fail result screen then they are prevented by Moodle from just retaking the test (In sharepoint SLK they are able to resume (and therefore restart) the test even after they have reached the fail screen).
