Can't print out the certificate of completion

Jun 04, 2013

Hello,

I've encountered a problem concerning the certificate printing as the following details:

Symptoms:

After finishing the quiz, i clicked view result then print in order to print out the certificate but nothing happen when i entered my name and click OK. There is no new window showing the certificate for printing.

Characteristics:

1. I use Presenter 09 to create this file.

2. I have modified the text label to my local language (Thai) and the texts on the screen are all in Thai.

3. I have published these files in to Web quality in stead of CD quality.

4. The reason why i need to publish in Web quality is, recently, i published it in CD quality but the "Backspace" button doesn't work when Certificate printing asks for my name.

5. I used 3D Rotation from PowerPoint for every text box as i believed that the software will publish it in picture instead of duplicating the alphabets.

6. I have customized Result page into Thai.

Question:

1. What i am missing right now? Everything seems to work fine if i publish in CD except "Backspace" button.

2. Does "3D Text box rotation" effects these matter?

Thank you everyone. I try to make my question easy to read by categorizing it as shown above. Hope it helps you read it easier.

Hi Narongrit,

First, how are you viewing the published content? It sounds like you're publishing for CD, but what file are you using to launch the presentation? Are you launching the EXE file, the HTML file, or are you running from the CD?

Try to make sure that you're running the EXE file, or running the presentation after burning the course to CD. If you view the published files locally you may run into some problems.

Here's more information:

If you view a published Studio '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Publishing and sharing Studio '09 content

The backspace key may not work properly with content published for CD. I don't believe this has to do with the type of content in your projects, I believe it's a limitation of the backspace key (and some other key combinations) working with that type of output type.

Dear Christine,

"Backspace" button doesn't work only in CD delivery only. I can type my name but i cannot edit it. I can' print out the certificate.

However, this button works in Web delivery, but i can't print out the certificate. When i click print, there is nothing happen.

Additionally,

Is there any options to customize the user's information input before printing because i want the user's name and their employee id to put in the certificate.

I know this can be done in Storyline by putting the textentry but i can't find this way in Presenter '09.

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Hi NC,

Articulate software does not currently support certificates of completion.  If you'd like to suggest this feature, please submit your request to our product development team for review.

I'm afraid I won't be able to give any suggestions for modifying that content. What you may want to do is jump into the discussions on the topic.

Example files: Generating a certificate from Storyline

The community members that are active in that thread will probably be able to give you some advice :) The discussion is for Storyline, but the modification of the HTML file is pretty similar to Quizmaker. If that doesn't help, you might want to consider creating a new thread in the General Discussion forums. Hopefully this will get your question a little more exposure and some additional feedback from the community.

Correct, the CD version only has an issue with the Backspace key for fill-in-the-blank and data entry boxes. This is something that we have been investigating. For now you may need to try using the "Delete" key, if you need to keep your content in a CD version. We'd also be happy to take a look at the project and see if we can find any information that narrows down the issue.

Thanks very much!
