Creating a click able graphic to use in an assessment

Aug 16, 2018

Hello,

I am creating an assessment in Quizmaker 360 which will be embedded into Rise once complete.  However, I am having difficulty creating one particular screen.  I want to use a graphic (which is a floor plan) that learners can click on certain parts of it to identify the locations of fire exits (there are 5 exits to identify).  I have tried this using hotspots they can click to identify the locations of the exits, and drag and drop icons where they drag an icon to the location of the fire exit, but only one interaction is recorded.  I need to confirm/feedback that they have 5 interactions either correct or incorrect.

Can anyone please help?

Hey Jill,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your vision for your project.

Would you be able to share this .quiz file that you are working on so that we could take a look? It sounds like some additional flexibility may be what you are needing to build this, and Storyline 360 may be a better fit.

In order to import this into Rise, you would first need to import to Storyline 360 then use the Storyline block to add to Rise, so we may be able to eliminate a step :)

Hi Jill,

It sounds like you're looking for partial credit or individualized feedback for each answer, on the same question? Storyline and Quizmaker both allow for one question on each slide, and one total score and that all pieces must be correct to be evaluated as such.

Since it sounds like you'd need a bit more customization, I'd suggest using Storyline. An additional bonus, there is a Storyline block in Rise to pull that content directly in.

If you'll use Storyline, things get a little tricky when your drag items have multiple correct drop targets, since the question natively works with one drop target per drag item. You'll have to get creative with your set up, and there may be some community workarounds you can try. Here's a good forum thread to get you started!

The same would be true of having multiple correct hotspots, but using a Freeform pick many would help! There's a lot of examples of this in ELH, and although some of them are a bit older it'll still be the same setup in Storyline 360.

Let us know if you need anything else!

Hi Ashley, thank you so much for your help.  I followed a link you provided to a forum on the subject and I succeeded in creating the graphic I wanted.  Unfortunately I now have another issue.  I can get the graphic to work in both Quizmaker and when I import the quiz into Storyline (prior to pulling the quiz into Rise).  However, I cannot get the hotspots to work correctly when I test the quiz in Rise.  So I am on the lookout for another forum to help with this.

However, many thanks for your previous help.

Kind regards,

Jill

Hello Leslie,

With Ashley's help,  I found some help with this issue.  However, I am experiencing another problem.  I can get the graphic to work in both Quizmaker and when I import the quiz into Storyline (prior to pulling the quiz into Rise).  However, I cannot get the hotspots to record a correct selection when I test the quiz in Rise.

When I click on the hotspot which has previously recorded a correct selection when I have tested it in both quiz maker and storyline,  the feedback in Rise is that the choice is always incorrect even though I know it is correct.

So I am looking for another forumto help with this.

However, many thanks for your help with my earlier issue.

Kind regards,

Jill

Hi Jill,

Are you creating this in Quizmaker, importing into Storyline, and then inserting into Rise?

I'd suggest creating it exclusively in Storyline to help eliminate an extra step and see if that changes the behavior you're seeing in Rise. If you're still running into trouble, we'd want to take a look at the .story file and your Rise Share link to test it. You can include those here if you'd like by visiting the forum discussion to respond and upload the files.

If you need to share privately, I definitely understand that, and you can send that along here.
