Creating an acknowledgement

Sep 08, 2011

Hi there,

I've used Quizmaker to create a course acknowledgment where learners can indicate that they have read and completed the learning module.

The only options are "yes" and "no" that they understand and acknowledge and additional corporate jargon....I've removed the feedback options so no messages are displayed after either response.

Here's what I've done - if the user clicks on no - the course branches to a PPT screen indicating that they are non-compliant with the course and if they would like to retake or review the acknowledgement, they can hit the back button (that I have linked to return them to the acknowledgemetn in quizmaker).  When they click on that back button to return, the quiz loads up again; however, it displays the green check mark next to the "yes" answer and shows what they selected previousl (the no option).

Is there any way to correct this sot eh quiz loads up fresh as if it wasn't run before?  Ultimately, I do not want the green check mark to appear nor do I want their previous selection to be displayed.

Thanks everyone!

Here's what the screen looks like; however, i want the screen to load as if i'm takign the acknowledgment again for the first time...so as mentioend above, remove the green check mark, and the previous answer...and the other buttons along the bottom.

I find that the defaulted "next" button can be misleading.

Like this instead...

Hi Raymond,

Instead of forwarding the user to another slide when they click the No option, I would recommend sending them to the Failed result slide.  You'll be able to go into slide view & make it look any way that you want.  Then, you can adjust the "Retry Quiz" button to read something like "Accept acknowledgement again".  This way, you won't have to worry about the greyed out response.

Hi Raymond, are you using Presenter or Storyline?  I just began authoring using Storyline and as a proof of concept to get the go ahead on purchasing the software I re-authored a module we had made 3 years ago with our LMS built in software.  One of the functions it had was a self declaration of completion which we turned into an "acknowledgement" this than hit our "complete" on the LMS.

We have transitioned to a more robust LMS and I built a quiz question (T/F) to achieve the same thing.  For some reason my LMS is not getting the completion.

I am thinking I have made an error with the quiz and results pages but not sure where to start to debug this.  Raymond if you used Storyline it would be great if you could let me know how you built yours?

Thanks!

EDIT - Got it working.  Looks like because I used the "survey" result slide it would not send the correct signal.  Once I change that to a "quiz" result it all worked flawlessly!

Hi Jose,

The posting I made back in September was using Articulate Presenter...that was some time ago.

More recently I started testing with Storyline on our LMS and so far have had no big problems with tracking when using a quiz/results slide.

To track my completion I inserted a Question....indicated m y correct answer.  so in this case it would be simply the "yes" button to say that my learner acknowledges completion.

Next you have to remember to add a results slide...

For the results slide you have to indicate which questions you want to include for your calculation.....

So by the time you publish, select the option you want for tracking...slides viewed, or by tracking quiz result.  In this case, tracking quiz result.

If that's a littel to high level and i you need more detail let me know.

Also - if you're publishing in SCORM 1.2 - You can also test your tracking by using Scorm Cloud.  Great tool to test that your modules are tracking and working properly.

Yup, got it to actually score.  Now I'm trying to figure out how to hide the "You Passed" that comes up on the result slide.  I deleted all the original content on that slide, but that piece keeps coming up and Im not sure why.

So far I am loving Storyline, was just telling my boss how quick people are to help, he is loving the end product as well.

Thanks for the help so far.

Sounds like you need to edit the "layeres" of your results slide.

you have a succesful layer as well as an unsuccessful layer...

should be able to see the layerse in the bottom right hand corner...just edit and remove what you dont' want on the other layers.

Yup - i know what you mean, the staff and other users have helped me a ton as well!

No problem - hope that helps.

Hi, can you tell me how to rename the "Retry Quiz" label?  Or point me to a tutorial?
