Display checkmarks and X after submitting a quiz

Aug 16, 2012

I browsed 10 pages in the Quizmaker forum before posting.

I found a thread that partly answered the question on how to display checkmarks and X after submitting one quiz at a time. One suggestion was from Jeanette Brooks, which used branching. It's innovative and great, but too time consuming and only works for some graded questions, see http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/15119.aspx

Can someone confirm whether there is a way to display checkmarks and X right after the user clicks the Submit button (given it's a 1-time attempt per question)? I read http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/15040.aspx

but I did not find it helpful.

Thank you,

Eric

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Eva!

Just to confirm, you're using Quizmaker, correct? I ask because the "Pick One" and "Pick Many" in Quizmaker are usually survey questions, so I'm not too sure why you'd want to provide incorrect or correct responses for a survey question. Having said that, though, I realize you may have your reasons. That, or maybe you're referring to the multiple response quizzes in Quizmaker?

You'd be able to do something like this in Storyline, if that's what you're using.

In Quizmaker, the only methods I'm aware of are the ones provided in the tutorials linked by Eric in his original post.

Can you clarify, please?

Thanks and welcome again, Eva!

Thank you Christine, and thanks for your response.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize the post was about Quizmaker, I'm using Storyline.

I added a picture, the idea is to make a Pick One question that will show the correct answer with a checkmark when the user clicks the submit button and also when the user reviews the quiz. I tried to work with 'states' but it didn't work.

I hope my question is clear now and I hope you can help me!

Thank you,

Eva

Hi Eva!

Thanks so much for getting back to me and for sharing that information.

You could use states for this, actually. Do you want to have this shown only when the answer is selected when the user clicks "Submit"?

What you could do is create a custom state for the response (looks like you may have already done this with a check mark on the selection) then trigger that state when the learner clicks on "Submit" if the object/response is "Selected".

You can also do this for incorrect responses, if you'd like. Just create a custom state for the incorrect response, then trigger that when the response is selected, when the user clicks "Submit".

I put together a very quick example for you, if you'd like to take a look:

Example for Eva

I'm also attaching the file, just in case you want to see how I setup the states and the triggers.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Christine
