In the essay question, I am able to type in an answer, but cannot use the delete or back button to edit my text. I can highlight and delete. Is this the way the essay question box functions, or is there some setting I do not know about?
I haven't encountered this with the essay question but I also haven't used it extensively. I don't know that I can get you to the final answer but will ask for more information so others might be able to help.
What version of Quizmaker are you using?
Is this a published quiz on its own or inserted into Presenter?
Are you experiencing the problem in previewing the quiz or have you tried publishing it to the environment where it will end up residing for learners?
If you have published it, what's the system setup? What LMS, browser, etc.?
All of these things could contribute to a problem. To narrow down the exact issue it might help to post the answers to the above so others can help.

The delete and backpace keys do not work as expected when I am using Internet Explorer 8, Windows 7. No LMS. (The editing function seems to work fine when I test in a Mac OS 10.5.8 environment, using Firefox 3.6.17 – delete and backspace key work fine.)
The quiz should work properly when you publish it online. There's like a security setting that is preventing your browser from working properly. The workaround is to place the cursor before the text that needs to be deleted, and then use the Delete key to remove the character(s).
Brian, just to follow up on this as I experienced similar issue on a survey question with an essay answer that I had included, based on Jeanette's 'takeaway' activity - does your response mean that if our client wants to put the e-learning on their LMS they will have the same issue? I.e. backspace not working?
