Flash player crashes everytime I launch quiz in Firefox (quiz published from Quizmaker 13)

Feb 25, 2016

Quizzes I build in Quizmaker 13 are causing flash to crash when accessed via Firefox (in Windows 7).

Quizmaker UPDATE 7: 1509.1618

FireFox version 44.0.2

Shockwave Flash plugin 20.0 r0

I have experienced / tested this behavior with different quizzes, hosted from two different lms hosts.  I have tried disabling "Enable Adobe Flash protected mode" and also "hardware acceleration".  I have also uninstalled and reinstalled both Firefox and Flash and the problem continues.

Chrome and IE seem to be fine, so does Firefox on Win 10, but my Win 7 machine continues to crash flash when it launches.

Attached is a simple quiz to examine.

thanks!

Hi, Patrick -- Thanks so much for reaching out with your question! And as it appears that you have attached your published output folder, I wanted to ask if you might be able to share your .quiz (or source) file as well. It's helpful to take a look at how things are set up and publish from our end to see if we are able to reproduce the issue you're reporting. :)

Hi, Patrick -- I appreciate your patience while I tested your file in Windows 7, with Firefox version 44.0.2. After your content was uploaded to the SCORM Cloud for testing, I don't appear to be experiencing any issues with crashing. Could you please test this link in Windows 7 with Firefox 44.0.2 and let me know what results you experience?

Patrick Fehrenbach

Thank you Christie.

You've been quicker than I could have hoped for.  Unfortunately it does also crash for me.  I suppose this may point to some other issue, though just what I'm unsure.  Any further thoughts on why I might be experiencing this?  I can't seem to duplicate this failure with anything other than Quizmaker 13 quizzes (Presenter/Quizmaker 09 packages launch fine, as do our current test courses built with Ispring and Claro, respectively).

Hi, Patrick -- So sorry to hear that issues persist!

Please take a look at this article, Firefox Is Blocking Flash Content, and let us know if that is helpful, or you may want to try running through these general troubleshooting steps listed here to see if you find improvement. And, as I was not able to reproduce the crashing behavior you are seeing, if the repair steps do not do the trick, I may need to put you in touch with our Support Engineers to see if they can take deeper look for you.

So I had looked over the first troubleshooting link and found that it was something I had already tried.  The second link seemed more daunting, so I was holding out on this.  In the meantime, I saw Julien's reply, decided to try again, and what do ya know, it is now working for me.  To be specific, I did nothing, changed nothing, updated nothing, and now the course that Christie sent me on SCORM clould is launching with no problem, as are my previously problematic quizzes.  Wish I had more insight, but I am happy it is no longer a problem for me.  Hope yours is fixed just as quickly, and thanks to Christie for the help.

Thanks Patrick for the update and glad to hear things are working normally again - perhaps it was just the need of a browser or system reboot to allow it all to work correctly.

Julien, please let us know if you've gone through the troubleshooting steps that Christie linked too above and any other information you can share about how you're publishing, accessing the course, etc.
