graded self-assessment?
Feb 21, 2011
Hi all. I sometimes use self-assessments to make learners aware of what development they still have to do to become competent in an area. The assessments are usually on a scale of 1 to 10. For instance:
"Using a scale of 1 -- 10 rate yourself on the following statements";
A series of statements then follow. I know this can be done using a survey, but I need them to see a final score and then to consider what each range of scores mean ("if you scored 20-40, you still have a lot of work to do; if you scored 41-60, . . . " etc.). The graded quiz option provides no obvious way to do this. Any suggestions?

Hi Jens,
When you do a graded quiz and select Multiple choice question, you have 10 answers, but you can then assign marks to every single answer. Just change your Quiz property settings to "Submit all at once" and change you review page to include your range of what the scores mean ex:
I hope this helps.....
Hi Jens - Margaret has a good idea. Here's one way that you could go about it: https://player.vimeo.com/video/204926722
Thanks Margaret and Jeanette. It looks like Margaret's solution may work best for this particular assessment, though I have added your tutorial to my favorites, Jeanette, and have plans to use it for other things.
Margaret, you said: "Just change your Quiz property settings to "Submit all at once"." I do not find this setting in Quiz properties. Am I missing something?
Hi Jens,
The section that you're looking for is actually Player Templates. For more information, see the screencast in the link below:

Thanks Brian; found it.
This is great; I've been trying to figure out how to do a self-assessment in Quizmaker.
However, am I limited to using T/F questions? If I wanted to ask a question with multiple answer options and give each one a different score/weight, could I do that? For example, could I ask: How often do you drink coffee? a) everyday (3 points), b) 4-6 days a week (2) points, c) 1-3 days a week (1 point), d) never (0 points). That's what I'd really like to do and then string together several questions to result in an overall self-assessment result, but I don't know if it's possible. If it is, how do you do it? If it's not, do you know of any third-party plug-and-play options that will do this and can be integrated with Presenter? Thanks in advance.
Hi Laura!Yep, you can definitely assign different point values to different answer choices. Here's a tutorial that shows how.And yeah, you can also give the user an overall assessment score based on their answers. Take a look at the suggestions in this post and see if that helps.
Brilliant -- thank you!
