Help with settings for number of attempts at a question

Feb 10, 2013

I have a challenge with getting consistency in the number of attempts learners can have with each question in Quizmaker.

There are 6 quizes in 2 cousres and the quiz properties of each is set so the number of "Attempts permitted"  is "1"

Here's the results and our challenge:

  1. several of the quizes only allow one attempt for every question - which is what we need
  2. several quizes permit two attemps for each question, despite the settings described above
  3. 1 quiz permits only one attempt on Q1, then all successive questions permit 2 attempts.

I have saved and closed all applications and restarted them in an attempt to get the settings to apply.  I have the same results whether the survey is run in preview mode or when published to the www.

I look forward to your advice as to what settings I need to make so that all quizes will only permit one attempt of each question.

Regards - Mark

Hi Mark,

The quizzes are all inserted in a Presenter presentation, correct? Are the number of attempts in both Presenter and Quizmaker set to 1 attempt?

In order to allow your quiz to be attempted a specified number of times, you need to enable the resume feature in Quizmaker. Here's how:

  1. Open your quiz using Edit in Quizmaker.
  2. Click on Player Templates.
  3. Click the Edit button.
  4. Click the Navigation tab.
  5. Under the Resume section, check the Prompt to resume on Quiz Restart (also check the Ignore Flash Cookie options if your quiz is used in an LMS).
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.
  8. Click Save and return to Presenter.
  9. On the slide that contains your newly inserted quiz, click Properties and change the number of attempts.

If you're still seeing multiple attempts available for some of the quizzes, or questions, please create a Presenter Package. Once the package has been created, please submit the files to us through a support case. You'll be able to attach the files on the second page of the form.
