How do you FORCE a student to review missed questions?

Dec 20, 2013

Quizmaker 13.  I have a quiz and I want the student to actually review the questions they've missed before moving on.  That doesn't not seem to be an option.  But that's such a basic functionality for a quiz that I figure I missed something.

So what am I missing here?  What I want to happen is:

(1) Student enters the quiz and responds to question

(2) Student get to the end and is awarded pass/fail

(3) If results = fail, student is forced to review missed questions

(4) Student then moves on.

I"ve tried all sort of configurations but can't get this to work in quizmaker 13.

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,

You haven't missed anything :)

It's not possible to "lock" someone into a quiz if they don't review the quiz. However, if you're inserting into a Presenter presentation, you can set it so that learners cannot advance in the presentation until they pass the quiz.

I would recommend maybe making a note on the results slide that they are required to pass in order to continue and make a note that they should review the quiz. Then you could make the changes in Presenter, so they cannot continue without passing the quiz.

I know that's not what you were looking for, but hopefully that helps.

I'd be interested in hearing other suggestions for this as well.

Thanks and good luck with the project!

Okay, that's helpful... I cannot seem to be able to configure quizmaker to let them take the quiz again?  I configure it to put them back to the "previous" slide adn that doesn't work because when they fail, and jump back to the previous slide, Quizmater will not let them change any of their answers.  So how's this support to work in real life?

thanks!

Hi Jim! :)

In Quizmaker '13, you'll want to click on the "Edit Result" button along the top ribbon.

From here, I would recommend changing only the "Failure" layer, since that's the one you'll want to apply this to - obviously passing wouldn't be an issue in this case.

From this layer, you can change the attempts to "Unlimited" - this means that they could try a billion times if they like, but they won't be able to leave the quiz until they've passed.

Here's how it should look:
