How to change defaultlanguage from English to another?

Feb 07, 2012

Hello,

I am creating an Articulate Presenter piece in Spanish, and my co-worker is creating the same piece in French.  I am in the process of writing quizzes for certain pieces of the course in Spanish.  However, the quizzmaker "auto-spell" corrects my Spanish words and turns them into English ("si" to "is"!).  Also, Quizzmaker does not recognize accented vowels such as "á" or the Spanish "ñ".  Consequently in Slide View, they simply do not appear.

How do I change the default language from English to spanish for Quizzmaker, or for taht matter the Articulate package?

Thanks, Barbara

Welcome to Heroes, Barbara!

There is no totally simple way to do it, but it can be done. You'll want to start with the text labels in your Player Templates:

http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/changing-your-player-to-a-different-language.aspx

And here are some good discussions from previous threads that will hopefully get you pointed in the right direction:

And some more ideas here:

And a good discussion on QA here:

You're in the right place for great ideas! Hopefully you'll get some additional feedback to make the conversion painless. Good luck!

Thanks Peter!

I have reviewed all of the links provided, thanks very much.  Specifically though, I am having trouble with translating the "feedback and branching" options into Spanish (so "correcto" and "incorrecto" instead of "correct" and "incorrect"), and in translating some of the standard responses for invalid responses.

Any ideas how to address those?

Hi Barbara!

From Jeanette, in the comments section of this great post:

"you can change the result slides directly, to include whatever text (and in whatever language) you want. Here's how: open the quiz in Quizmaker, and click Pass Result. You can edit the text that appears there, and you can also click Slide View for a more graphical editing interface (in case you want to add additional textboxes, images, or whatever). Once you're done configuring your Pass Result slide, you can do the same for Fail Result. Here's a tutorial with more details on customizing the Result slides: community.articulate.com/.../customizing-the-result-slides.aspx"

And you can change the feedback and branching text manually. Hope that's helpful!

thanks Peter.

I'm taking a lesson from you and uploading images of what I'm trying to translate....As you'll see from these pics, I've already translated the text for the questions and responses, like the ones you've shown in your post above hilighted in the red box.

I'm trying to translate the "correct" and "incorrect" boxes, as well as what appears to be a systems generated message when someone tries to move forward without entering an answer.  I also need to translate the "submit" button.

I've also taken a look at the pass result and fail result and in this case, both of the Results options are turned off, so it's not an issue for this course.  Thx, Barb

I have answered part of my own question.

In the form view, you can click on on the spell check button, click "options", and change the main dictionary language to Spanish or one of hte other options in the drop down menu.  That will stop the autospell from inadvertently changing some "misspelled" words in spanish to English.

I'm still trying to figure out how to change the "feedback and branching" buttons though, and the "invalid response" buttons and language.
