How to interpret the exam results

Oct 11, 2017

Hello,

I've just switched from SCORM to TinCan and I'm having trouble understanding the results I'm seeing. I built a stand-alone exam in Quizmaker 360 and uploaded it to our LMS (TalentLMS). I've taken it myself as various fake users (Average Student, Bad Student, etc.) to understand the output.

When I download the results I get the spreadsheet attached. First question, why are the answer options represented like "]choice_6J5gbAjYnGb[" ? Is there a way to show the answer option shown to the learner rather than this indecipherable code? Also, in Column B, sometimes what is shown is the time at which the question was answered but other times it contains a part of the question. Any idea why it's doing that?

Thanks for any clarification,

Jessica

Hi there, Jessica! Thanks for including the example spreadsheet of the information you're getting from your LMS. I agree -- that's pretty tough to decipher.

Tin Can API lets an activity be defined in a statement or in the tincan.xml file. We began using Tin Can API statements with friendly, readable IDs.  It sounds like your LMS is still having some trouble interpreting those statements and giving them to you in a usable format.

Two things:

  • Test your content in SCORM Cloud and see if the reporting is any better.
  • And then, give this information to your LMS team and see if they can decipher why you aren't getting intelligible reporting.

Let me know how you make out!
