Imported questions not picking up slide master settings

I am working towards converting quizzes created in QM'09 to QM'13. I have set up a new .quiz file in QM'13 and set up the slide masters and two feedback masters with the desired styles.

I'm then using this as the template for new quizzes. Newly authored questions pick up the settings from the masters fine. However if I import a question from an existing QM'09 file, it doesn't. It keeps the font, design and feedback of the original.

In each question's Slide Layout, I can then right-click > Layout, and apply the relevant new feedback master, but for slide master it doesn't change the question slide font style/size from the master.

Have I missed a setting somewhere to make sure the existing questions take on the formatting of the new master?
