Issue with pass/fail in Quizmaker '13

Dec 04, 2014

Hello all,

I’m having an intermittent issue with Quizmaker ’13.  This is not happening with all our courses, only a few with no apparent causes.

The quizzes are set to be 100% as a passing score through the quiz properties, with the pass and fail feedback screens having custom text, while leaving the red x and green check in place.  Viewing the scoring percentages is turned off on pass and fail, they’re sent to review and retry unlimited times.

When we publish, occasionally we get quizzes that will give is the ‘you have passed’ screen with the green check when they’ve gotten one or more answers wrong.  We’ve tried to delete the old quizzes and create new ones from scratch to import into the project but the publish issue keeps happening.  Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

-Jada

Hi Jada!

You may find that your learning management system (LMS) incorrectly marks a course as Passed or Completed on a learner's second attempt when the following conditions are true:

*  The course is being tracked by an embedded quiz.
*  The learner attempts the course more than once and fails on each attempt.

This issue was fixed in Update 2 for Articulate Presenter. See this article for more information.

Hi.

Maybe this has to do with the HTML5 bug I have just found:

In HTML5 output, all Multiple Response questions are evaluated as wrong, even if You answer them 100% correctly. The same issue with MR-question type is not present in the flash version, where all question types are evaluated correctly.

When I take my quiz using the quiz.html to open, I get the flash version in my browser. This version works fine.

When I open the quiz using quiz_html5.html, I get the html version in my browser. Answering the quiz exactly as in the flash version, I get everything correct, but all MR-type questions are evaluated as wrong, even thoug I can see by the markings in the 'review quiz' walktrough that I have clicked the right choices.

See the attached image. The language is Norwegian, but I think You can see my point anyway...

Best regards

Hi, and thanks.I am talking to one of Your software engineers, Vevette, about this, and the problem does persisteven after the upgrade. I am in the midst of finding out what causes the failure, it isone of two: A conversion from 2010-->2013 or it has to do with the Norwegian language in the player..As soon as I know, I'll let You in on it.

Hi again.Well, the case has been submitted to Vevette.
I uploaded the .quiz file. It was none of the issuesI suspected, so I'm lost.

My only thought is that the quiz and the published content is on a removable drive, maybe if I moved them both to the My Documents folder, the problem would not occur. So I'll try that.
Will keep You posted.

Hi again.Yes, that works, at least for 1 question, but that does not help me very much.I plan to convert a few quizzes, withsome 100s of questions from QM2010 to QM2013,to get the HTML5 / IOS output.
I know these quizzes were all made with QM 2010 on a different PC, and on thisPC I plan to keep QM2010 and not upgrade, for the time being, to be able to take care of possible errors in conversion and so on.
So what does this leave me with?I need a solution to this in a week or two, because my students are using the quizzesto prepare for a test on paper that theywill have in mid January.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Lars,

I see that in your case with Vevette she shared the following:

We have reviewed your project file and we were able to duplicate your issue. The problem happens when there is more than one Multiple Response question in the quiz and the Player is set to 'Submit all at once'. I have submitted your case to our Quality Assurance team for their review. As a workaround, I would suggest setting the Player to 'Submit one question at a time'. I cannot offer a time frame for when or if this issue will be resolved so please continue to take advantage of the workaround if you encounter this issue in the future.

I just wanted to share that update here for anyone else following along.

Hello everyone! I wanted to pop in and let you know that Studio '13, Update 9 was released today which addressed the following issue:

Fixed issue where correct responses would be scored incorrectly in HTML5 output when set to submit answers all at once

You can read all of the details in this documentation and download the latest update here.
