Layering Drag and Drop in a Specific Order

May 16, 2017

I am using Quizmaker to create a drag and drop simulation for table setting. Ideally, I would like to layer the napkin and plate. I created one drop target for both and it works well IF the user puts the plate first, then the napkin. However, if a users puts the napkin first it is covered by the plate. Is there an option to force either the user to put the plate down first OR for the napkin to pop on top of the plate if the napkin is put down first? Any advice would be great!

Hi Rachel,

Have you looked at using the feature to reveal drag items one at a time?

Mark this box if you want drag items to appear one at a time after the previous drag item has been dropped on a target. Click the ellipsis (…) button to set the Drag Item Sequence.

That would allow you to choose the order that things are shown and then set it so that the napkin appears after the plate?

Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately, this solution is not 100% what we are looking for. We would like to see all objects throughout the whole simulation. The struggle we are facing is getting the layering worked out. We would like the plate to be on the bottom with the napkin on top. We would like to figure out a way to pull the napkin forward if it is put down first. When the plate is put on top of it right now, the napkin disappears under the plate. We figure out how to layer it in the editor mode using alignments but struggling to see the same results in the actual quiz.

I attached a sample of one of our slides for you to look at. Maybe this will help with my explanation!

Hi Rachel,

There won't be a way to force the napkin to appear on top if it's dropped first. I think the closest you could get would be to change the size and location of each drop target so that at the least the napkin could appear next too or behind the plate and be visible. So if you made each target smaller and set them not one on top of the other with the setting to still "snap to center" then you'd have more room for the user to see the napkin.
