No slide.swf file to make transparent background

Dec 19, 2012

Hi all

I have an issue with my QM slides not becoming transparent like I used to have them in other projects.

I inherited with a quiz that I doctored. When I published it I had no slide.swf file to replace with the transparent.swf file as usual.

I checked the theme used and it was the by default themes BUT the slide background has been selected before to a white one. I removed and the slide.swf file is appearing. The transparency is not complete though. It has a blue rectangle in the background and I don't know why.

Here is how it looks:

Hello Helene, are you just wanting to remove that gradient blue area in the lower-left corner of the first screencapture you shared above? Try editing your quiz player's color scheme by adjusting the item called Frame>>Background Curve. Try changing it to a non-white color first, and then apply the 100% transparency, and see if that helps.

So it looks like the gradient curve is gone, which I think it what you were hoping for, right? Are you now wanting to remove the lighter colored rectangle that contains your quiz question? If so, there isn't a built-in feature that does this, but Dave Burton created this solution which makes the quiz background transparent. Perhaps that's what was done on the initial project before you inherited it?

Thank you David.

Here is the link to an excerpt of the quiz:

So once published from Presenter and the transparent.swf file applied, I see what I screenshot above. I'm sure it's something simple that I forgot to do, but after 3 or 4 hours on it I can't see clearly enough

Helene,

I tried your quiz in a sample Articulate Presenter project and this worked without issues. I think maybe you forgot to check the following option in Articulate Presenter before publishing.

Presentation Options --> Publish Tab: Include slide master behind quizzes and interactions.

Confirm you have the above option checked and republish the project but remember to rename the transparentQuiz_v1.0.swf file to match the background file produced when the publishing completes – see below:

Transparent Quiz\data\swf\quizmaker_257\quiz_content\Slide455eeb96-9383-4b6a-b6df-c0d159c18054.swf

Note: The above file will always have a different name for every quiz inserted into Presenter. It’s important that this files exists and is not deleted or the Presentation will stall when loading the quiz; this is why we replace the file as opposed to deleting.  The transparentQuiz_v1.0.swf file contains a single line of code, that makes the background invisible.

I hope this helps!

Thank you Dave but yes I did check "Include slide master behind quizzes and interactions" and replaced the swf correctly. Because I did that so many times I know it works fine normally.

This time I've tried to include the quiz in a new presentation, published and it worked.

The reason it was not working was actually the Player Template. I didn't change the one that was selected by default since I'm not using any feature of the player template but apparently the built-in template that was attached to the presentation was the reason for the blue rectangle I saw in my slide!

Thank you for your help, always very fast and helpful.
