Not all text appearing in published feedback boxes as expected
Nov 14, 2012
Hi
I am currently putting together a course for a customer. It is in Thai - using thai characters.
My problem is with the feedback responses within my multiple choice quiz questions.
When I am in design view, all the thai characters (i..e all text) appears as expected.
However, when I go to preview or publish mode, if it is a lengthy response (seems to be if it has more than 900 characters??) that the text in the feedback response box (i.e. upon clicking submit on the question page) gets chopped off at the end.
Its frustrating that the text is there in design view but not there when I go to preview or publish it.
What is the exact character limit for the feedback response boxes in quizmaker (in publish/preview mode)?
Is there anyway around this? Has anyone else had this problem?
Any suggestions work-around?
Thanks!

Hi Jodie,
There's a few things we can look at to see what might be causing your feedback text to appear "chopped off".
If you're still experiencing the issue after trying the suggestions above, please submit a support case with our tech team. They'll be able to take a closer look at the issue and work with you to resolve it. If you do open a case, please share the case number with me (you can do so by responding to this message or by sending me a private message) so I can monitor the status of the case. This way I'll be able to share the resolution with any other Heroes that experience the same problem.
Thanks!
Hi there
Unfortunately, my issue remains outstanding. My text is still getting chopped off.
1. Character limit - the number of characters that I am trying to insert is 1173, but its getting chopped off at 990 characters. Is there a standard cut-off point for characters that are actually displayed in preview/publish view?
2. Not using OpenType font
3. I have the Arial Unicode MS selected as default font in quizmaker. I am copying the base content from a word document which is also Arial Unicode MS. Note: the content is 99% thai characters but there are a few english words thrown in such as our company name of which there is not a direct thai translation.
Hope you can help!
Hi Jodie!
Thanks very much for getting back to me. I just tested with the same amount of characters, but I'm unable to reproduce the problem. 1173 characters does show for me, in a scroll-able window. I'm thinking this may be related to the Thai characters, but I'd like to see exactly how this looks, if possible.
Can you post a screenshot (You can take a screenshot by pressing ALT+Print Screen. Then paste (CTRL+V) into a Word document), screencast or your .quiz file here so I can take a look, please? You can attach files to this message by using the paperclip icon.
Thanks, Jodie!
Hi Christine
I have attached the .quiz file - the problem is specifically with the feedback in the third repsonse.
Hi Jodie,
Thanks for the file! I tested this on my system and asked Peter to test it, as well. We're both able to see the full feedback with the ability to scroll to the end. It looks like it may have something to do with a setting on the machine, itself.
Would you mind submitting a support case with our tech team? They'll be able to take a look and see what might be causing this issue. Please be sure you include your .quiz file in the case, or reference this thread so they can access the file.
I'm also very curious to see what might be causing this. If you do open a case, please share the number with me, so I can follow along with the progress.
Thanks again, Jodie!
Hi Christine
For the second option on the quiz, you can definitely see text on the second paragraph beyond the last english word? (i.e. design and preview are the same?)
I can see a scrollbar but it is literally blank.
Are you sure its not something as simple as a quiz setting that could be easily tweaked?
Yes, I am able to see all the text in both results. However, let me clarify that I don't think it's a setting in the quiz. I think it may be a setting on the machine, your computer. This is why I think it's best to communicate with the technical support team to work toward a resolution.
I was able to see the text (though, honestly I couldn't understand the portions that aren't in English, but I could see it scroll all the way down to the bottom), in both previewed and published views.
I published the file for Articulate Online, if you'd like to take a look:

(I'll take that down as soon as we're done testing!)
