Option of Scoring by Answer not available

Feb 21, 2011

I am trying to change my Quiz created with Quizmaker to have the questions scored by answer. When I go to change my option in each question, I do not have the ability to select by Answer.

Hi Federico & welcome to Heroes,

With the multiple response question type, you could potentially have a large combination of answers and points available that could cause some issues.  If you have 4 answers that are worth 5 points each, what do you do if the end-user selects all of the answers and they're still wrong?  Do you give them 20 points or do you give them none?  What do you do if the end-user only selects 2 out of the possible 4 answers?  Do you give them partial credit or do you give them no points?  Unfortunately, Quizmaker doesn't currently have the ability to accommodate this.

If you would like to see a feature that better handles this better in a future release, please submit a feature request to us by using the link below:

Interesting logic. I know this thread is a bit old but since this very issue was the info I was looking for I will respond to Brian's post above.

"...If you have 4 answers that are worth 5 points each, what do you do if the end-user selects all of the answers and they're still wrong?  Do you give them 20 points or do you give them none?  What do you do if the end-user only selects 2 out of the possible 4 answers?  Do you give them partial credit or do you give them no points?..."

Yes you give them partial points. Partial points is the only reason why you'd want this functionality. I'd rather be stuck trying to decide how i'll handle incorrect answers then not have the option at all.

but untill a more robust set of features are added the onyl thing to do is rework the question(s).

I am replying to this since the thread is really old.  A little discouraging since A13 was released after these questions and requests for the update were originally discussed yet the problem still exists.  Granted I'm not a programmer so do not know what is involved to make it happen, but it doesn't change the fact that I have a client who wants to award partial credit for multi-response questions, but it cannot be done in A13.   I did submit an update/enhancement request, but if wasn't added in A13 knowing that it was issue prior to that update then I highly doubt it will be addressed anytime soon, if ever.  Too bad, I really like Articulate, but I'm finding that its harder for me to provide my clients with what they need with it's limitations and I'm being forced to use other authoring tools that are not as intuitive to use.  Maybe my clients are just getting more advanced, because I used to use A09 all the time and never had any complaints.  Back when I first started using it there weren't many authoring tools out there, now there is a lot and I guess clients are just getting more familiar with what's possible.  I hate to say it because I really, really like Articulate for the most part, but it might be time for us to break up :(
