I've designed a course that has several points where the learner answers a survey/essay type question. The problem is, as soon as they type any word with S, the focus of the cursor moves to the Search panel on the TOC. I realize I could disable keyboard shortcuts in player controls, but for accessibility standards those need to remain enabled. Is there a way I can customize/delete just the 'S' shortcut that takes them to the search? Other suggestions?
I'm not able to reproduce the issue on my end. My guess is that perhaps the user is clicking outside the text box, which would change focus to the player, and thus search the TOC. If you can confirm that's not the issue, and you would like to send us your files, please feel free to do so by following the steps below:
Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:
Please be sure to include a description of your issue, your version of PowerPoint, version of Windows and version of Presenter '09 which you can find in Help and Support -> About Articulate Presenter. Please also include the URL for this thread so we can follow up with you in the forums. Thanks!
Thanks for your reply. No, the user (aka, me) is not clicking outside the text box. It happens on any Articulate course. Go to the player window, and as you're viewing the course, press 'S' on the keyboard. Focus shifts over to the Search box.
This would not be a problem except I have quiz slides embedded in several places, so the learner watches a few minutes of the course, then comes to a slide where they must answer a question. Unfortunately, most responses contain an S somewhere!
Is there a way to turn off keyboard navigation just for the quiz slides? Or to disable ONLY the 'S' shortcut?
Sorry, Sara. Keyboard shortcuts can only be fully enabled or disabled. If control over choosing which shortcuts you would like to use is something you'd like to see in future builds, I'd encourage you to submit a feature request:
