Problems with "send email" function of quiz; email not sent

May 15, 2012

We've had several of our trainees complain about completing quizzes successfully (Passing scores), and sending email (emailing the scores to us) in order to receive certificates of completion. We are not receiving the scores email.

When we go into the quiz it clearly shows the email address to which we need the scores sent, and when we run a "test quiz" with passing scores and click the "send email" button, the scores get sent, are received, and so we're left scratching our heads as to why our trainees are having difficulty.

Can anyone help with this? Has anyone had a similar problem?

Quizzes are delivered in flash training modules that live on our website. Tests were run from these modules and quizzes with the results stated above.

Many of the complaints come from outside the USA---our trainees are global.

Unfortunately any sort of LMS (including Articulate Online) is too expensive for our budget. So this is quite disappointing, since we base our granting a certificate of completion on the passing score results sent via email at the end of the quiz.  Is there nothing that can be done? The training content with integrated quiz lives on our website as flash, why can't the email be generated from our own system rather than the trainee's.

Hi Jerry,

I understand the position you're in and want to help. The limitations of emailing results are not limitations of our software. Unfortunately, there’s no way to email results easily, accurately, and consistently. For example, if you use Gmail or your computer’s security settings are high, you can’t email results. Also, you run the risk of learners tampering with results since they can access the email before it’s sent.

With that said, if you're looking for an unsupported workaround, you could look into a server-side process for emailing results. Or depending on how strictly the formatting for your certificates must be, there's also an unsupported method for creating certificates that may work for you.

I hope that's helpful.
