Publishing Quizmaker 13?

Jun 17, 2014

Hi

I am trying to publish a quiz (in Quizmaker 13) into word for our subject matter experts to able to review it. I do not seem to have the ability to publish from within Quizmaker itself (I can only do this within Publisher). The Publish section on the top ribbon only has two options (Player and Preview). In the forums I can see there us usually a Publish button here as well. Is there any way to turn on this function or am I missing something.

Many thanks

Lin

Hi Lin,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

If the "Publish" option is missing, it may have something to do with the file you're working on, or the installation of Quizmaker '13.

Please make sure that you're working with local project files:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If that doesn't fix the problem, please try repairing Studio '13:

If you're still experiencing these issues, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Let me know if you try all of those suggestions and still don't see the option to publish your Quizmaker '13 project.

Best,

Christine

Hi Christine,

Many thanks for your swift reply. I have had our IT deparmemt try both of your solutions but sadly neither has worked and I still cannot see the publish button from within Engage or Quizmaker. Here is a picture of what my ribbon looks like in both engage and quizmaker. Any other suggestions? All files are saved on my C drive (as is the Powerpoint presentation they both come from) I have also tried starting a new presentation etc after all the fixes have been applied but there is no change to the publish ribbon.

Many thanks I really appreciate your support and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards Lin

1) Engage Ribbon (Publish is missing)

2) Presenter (Powerpoint) Ribbon - Publish is present

3) Quizmaker Ribbon (Publish is missing)

Hi Lin!

Thank you very much for the additional information - that helps!

I think the problem is that you're opening the Quizmaker or Engage files from within a Presenter project - is that correct?

If so, you'll see that "Save and Return to Presenter" option.

What you'll want to do is open the Quizmaker or Engage files outside of Presenter/PowerPoint. Locate the .quiz or .intr files for the projects. Once you have them open in either Quizmaker or Engage as standalone files, let me know if you still don't see a Publish option.

Thanks!

There seems to be a serious design flaw or bug. I made changes to Quizmaker from within Presenter, but could not publish for the reasons you stated. When I went to open the Quizmaker file outside of Presenter in order to use the Publish feature, the Quizmaker file had not taken on the changes I had made.

Hi Edward,

The suggestions I made earlier in this thread were to assist in troubleshooting with Lin to see if we were able to get the option working when the other products were launched separately.

If you've already reviewed and tried all the steps I posted earlier, it may help us to know a little more about what's happening.

Does this seem to happen with a specific project? The best way to find out is to create a new Presenter and Quizmaker project. Try modifying the Quizmaker quiz from within Presenter and see if the changes save. If they do, it may be specific to the project you're working on.

If they do not, we may want to take a closer look at the system, installation or project files.

Please let us know how it goes!

Thanks, Christine. I am baffled and (as you can probably tell) frustrated at this point.

You can see in the image the top window is Presenter and it shows the quiz was last modified today, July 17...when I click Edit in Quizmaker, it opens and you can see the name of the .quiz file in that 2nd window. In the third window (Windows Explorer) you can see that .quiz file has a date modified of 7/14. I will try your troubleshooting steps to see if that helps.

Hi Edward!

Thanks very much for the screenshot.

I totally understand and I'm sorry for the frustration.

If you've tried the suggestions and you still have trouble, I would first try renaming the path (_Sales) and the file name (Post-Assessmen). Try removing that underscore and the dash from the names.

If you still have trouble, let me know. We can discuss sharing the file so I can test it on my end.

Thank you very much!

Christine
