Question bank
Jul 07, 2015
What I am aiming to do is,
Minimum database of 15 questions be prepared for each training module which must be split into three sections of five possible questions. The system must be configured to ensure that at least one question from each section is generated with the final two questions coming from any of the three sections. If “retake” is selected this must generate a new set of questions, not a repeat of the original ones, and must only enable the test to be taken twice, after that this should be referred to Compliance for one-to-one training.
Can someone tell me whether this is possible please , and if so, how ?

Hi Nadilah,
There isn't a way to guarantee that new questions will be drawn as a part of the retake, as the drawing of questions is set to be random and therefore it could redraw one or more of the same questions. Have you looked at possibly setting it up as separate courses that a user is assigned if they need to conduct the retake?
We don't really want to create a separate course to retake, however I am not sure how question bank actually works? If I make several question banks, would the retry button redirect to the next question bank?
Hi Nadilah,
You could direct it to a particular slide or the scene where the extra question bank is - but tracking them all one on results slide could be problematic as it may look like the score is lower than expected. You can read more about tracking multiple results slide or calculating them here.
Ashely,
Could I make 3 different question banks and track each of them in 3 results slides? Could this then be tracked on IMS?
Hi Nadilah! Are you working in Quizmaker? I'm assuming since this is the Quizmaker forum. Multiple results slides are not a feature of Quizmaker nor can you report more than one to an LMS.
Hi Leslie,
Yes I am using quizmaker, that's a shame. So if the user is to retry the quiz, they wont be able to be redirected to a new set of questions?
Hi Nadilah!
You may want to consider using question groups in Articulate Quizmaker '13 to pool and randomize questions. I think that this may assist you.

Hi Nadilah!
So, your original question was about question banks, which are a feature of Storyline 2.
Storyline also has the ability to calculate results of results on Results Slides.
You can also set up feedback and branching as explained here.
I'm not entirely sure of what your end goal is, even after looking at your course, so I hope this documentation is able to assist you.
Thank you Leslie,
Sorry I am confusing things now, my end result is that by making 15 questions, the user should only be able to answer 5 and pass the quiz. however if they need to retake then the next 6-15 questions can be answered but not repeating the questions they already took in the first quiz. I hope this makes sense... but what it appears, this isn't possible.
Hi Nadilah! There is not a built in way to do so, but perhaps someone in the community will be able to assist.
Also, this thread may be of assistance as well. I know the topic there was language, but branching and how to get the results to report correctly may be helpful.
Leslie,
I think I have confused the topic and would like to ask for further help please. See attached my training program. The original problem was that I have a set of 15 questions, and 5 of those I need the users to answers and if they need to retry they can then answer further 5 more questions which would be selected randomly? Is this possible.
Hi Nadilah! I'm not seeing anything attached here. Based on your question, you would be able to have 5 questions pulled from a question bank of 15 and allow another try by your users if needed. However, it will be another random draw and no guarantee that it would be 5 different questions from the 15. I hope this helps.
How can you do this Leslie?
Be sure that you have the option to allow the user to retry the quiz on your results slide Nadilah. You can check out our tutorial here.
Leslie, I attach my training program! I am very confused on how to do this? Can you show me how please?
Hi Nadilah! I'm attaching a screencast and your updated file showing you how to utilize question banks as it seems that you sorted the retry. Please let me know if this is what you were looking for.
OMG THANK YOU SOOO SOO MYCH LESLIE!!!!! This makes so much sense now!!!! I really really appreciate all your efforts to help me! I totally understand now!
Glad to be able to assist you Nadilah :)
