Quiz title and question list don't appear after publishing

Oct 25, 2013

I've recently upgraded a project from ver 9 to ver 13, and have found that the quiz titles and question lists (located in top left) no longer appear after the ppt presentation is published.  The options are selected in the quiz properties, and display when previewed.  This worked correctly prior to the upgrade.  It's not just my quizzes; I added a new one and have the same problem, and have tried adding them to an all-new ppt presentation with the same result.

Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution?

Thanks.

Hi s a and welcome to Heroes!

With Studio 13, Presenter and Quizmaker both had player updates to allow them to have one unified player. The quiz title and question list will not appear up in the top bar, but you can see the question title and the list of available questions in the menu if you choose "Show in menu as" Multiple items."

If you'd like to submit a feature request about having the question list from the top drop down, please do so here.

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the response.  I also submitted a support request about this issue, and received a response from Rowie Barcelona.  He was unable to duplicate the issue I described, and sent me screenshots and quiz output showing that the question list and quiz title do appear at the top of the screen.  I'm a bit confused. Can you clarify?
Thanks.

Hi s a,

I possibly was not setting my quiz properties correctly - as I just did a basic import to see if it carried over. If you're able to share the case number I'll look and see what Rowie shared with you. Did you already send him your files and he was unable to duplicate the behavior in your files, or he just showed you an example?

Thanks Ashley.  The case number is 00363899.  I just responded to him as well.  I sent him the files and he was unable to duplicate the problem in my files, and sent me back output showing that the components do display (and they display for me - just not when I generate the output myself).  I can produce the problem simply by creating a new quiz and inserting it in a new ppt and publishing; it's not restricted just to the samples I sent him.  I posted in this forum after having not heard back from him, but I think the delay was because my server blocked his response because it had a zip file attached.

Thanks s a for sharing!

I see now that in Rowie's images - the first shows it within the player tab, which I hadn't checked and does display the quiz title. The second image is when the quiz is inserted into a slide, which does show the title within the menu - not within the top "course title" where you may be used to seeing it when it was a standalone quiz such as in this image:

It does look like Rowie is doing some additional testing, so I'll follow along.

Hi there Rachel and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

First, you mentioned this happens after publishing and not while previewing. How are you viewing the published project? If possible, please make sure you're not viewing the project files locally.

If you view a published Studio '13 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

If you've tried uploading to a server and still experience the same problem, please try viewing the project in a different web browser.

Let us know it goes.

Thanks and welcome again!

Please, add the feature 'Question of ..." again in Articulate 13. I have just upgraded, convert them to 13 and I don't see the number of the question in the player field. Students have to count in the dropdown question list what question number they have not answered. I let them write down the answers on paper as well, so they need to know what question number it is. It looks like the player template with all the options is missing in 13. WHY ?

Hi Didier,

I am far from a developer, so I cannot say exactly why the choice was made to remove this option from the newer version. I can see both sides, however - I can see how it would benefit some developers to not include this option and I can see how this would benefit others. I think, personally, that it would be best to at least have the option to show it if desired.

I've already submitted my own feature request for this. If you haven't already, I would recommend you do the same. Please be sure to be as detailed as possible. The more information we have regarding a feature, the better we can gauge the usefulness and demand for that feature.

You can share your suggestion with our development team here:

Thank you and have a great day!

I have the same problem. I want students to know how many questions total and how far along they are. I am randomizing questions, so can't label with question number.

To at least give the student a feel for their progress and about how mucn is left to go, I added this to my Slide Master view for quiz questions:

Score so far:

%Results.ScorePoints% out of %Results.PassPoints%

I've tried adding this to the quiz master slide but it doesn't seem to work,  I've copied directly your post here.  Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Stacey
